GOND LADOO

A healthy and tasty ladoo recipe prepared from gond. it is a popular dessert recipe prepared especially during the wet or winter season to provide the necessary heat and warmth. These ladoos are made with dry fruits, coconut and jaggery along with gond which makes them all the more nutritious. These ladoos can keep you going on a lazy winter morning. INGREDIENTS

For the gondh

  • ¼ Cup Gond
  • 2 tbsp ghee

The nuts mixture

  • ½ tsp ghee
  • 1 tbsp powdered almond
  • 1 tbsp powdered cashews
  • 1 tbsp powdered pistas

Other ingredients

  • ¾ Cup roasted grated coconut
  • 1 tbsp khus khus
  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder
  • ½ Cup Jaggery Sugar
  • 1 tbsp water

METHOD

For the gondh

  1. Heat ghee in a pan and fry the gond. Keep stirring until the gond puffs up.
  2. Keep stirring to avoid burning and once it puffs up. Strain and transfer the gond to to a bowl.
  3. Let it cool down a bit and crush it with your hands into a powder.

For the Nuts mixture

  1. In a same pan with leftover ghee, sauté crushed nuts and khus khus.
  2. Roast for a minute.
  3. Transfer this to a bowl.

For the coconut

  1. Blend the roast coconut into a powder.

How to proceed

  1. In a pan heat water and add jaggery sugar.
  2. Let it melt and cook for 15 seconds.
  3. Add in powdered gond, powdered nut mixture, powdered roasted coconut, cardamom powder and mix well.
  4. Transfer this to a bowl and let it cool down for a minute.
  5. Start making ladoos from the mixture while its still warm.
  6. Serve or store in an airtight container.
