MOONG DAL SHEERA
This is an all-time classic. Can be had on any occasion. A mouth-watering dal halwa dessert recipe made with split green gram and sugar. INGREDIENTS
½ cup yellow moong dal
4 tbsp ghee
¼ cup sugar
½ cup milk
¼ cup water
¼ tsp cardamom powder
¼ tsp saffron dissolved in water
2 tbsp chopped almonds
To decor
almond slivers
METHOD
Soak the moong dal in warm water for 3 to 4 hours and drain well. Process in a food processor till you get a paste.
Tie in a muslin cloth and remove the excess water by squeezing the cloth.
In a vessel heat the ghee and add the moong dal mixture and stir for 8 to 10 minutes.
Add the milk, sugar, water and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
Add the cardamon powder, almonds, saffron water and stir for 2 to 3 minutes.
Serve hot and decorate with almonds.
