INGREDIENTS

For the batter

  • 1/3 Cup Rolled Oats (Soak in ¼ cup water for 15 minutes)
  • 1/3 Cup Rice
  • 2 tbsp Urad Dal
  • ½ tsp methi seeds
  • 1 tbsp poha

To add later

  • Salt to taste

Other ingredients

  • ¼ Cup chopped onions
  • 1 tbsp podi masala
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp chopped coriander

Oil to make the uttapam

METHOD

For the batter

  1. Soak rice, urad dal, methi seeds and poha together in water overnight.
  2. Soak oats in ¼ cup water for 15 minutes.
  3. Once everything is soaked strain and blend all together into a smooth batter by adding ½ cup water.
  4. Cover and let the batter sit for an hour.

How to proceed

  1. Add in salt to taste in the batter right before making the uttappam.
  2. Heat a pan, with the help of oil make uttappams using this batter. You can
  3. make small or big uttapams as per your preference
  4. Top up with chopped onions, podi masala and coriander.
  5. Brush some oil, flip and cook on both sides.
  6. Serve hot with green chutney.
