Samo kheer Recipe|Renu dalal

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ Cup Banyard millet
  • 3 ½ Cups Milk
  • 7-8 Saffron strands (Soaked in ½ tbsp hot milk)
  • ¼ tsp Cardamom powder
  • 6 tbsp Sugar
  • 2 tsp Ghee

For garnish

  • Roasted Sliced Cashews
  • Roasted Sliced Almond

METHOD

  1. Strain the soaked millets.
  2. In a pan heat ghee and roast the soaked millets for a minute.
  3. Add in 1 ½ Cup milk once the millets are lightly roasted. Stir well, cover with a lid and let the millets cook for 6-8 minutes or until they turn soft.
  4. Once they are cooked add in rest of the milk, sugar, soaked saffron strands, cardamom powder and let it boil for another 5 minutes or until they milk reduces down a bit.
  5. Serve hot or cold garnished with sliced cashews and almonds
