THAALI PEETH
Here is yet another one of Maharastrian classics. Thalipeeth is a savoury multi-grain flatbread popular in India, particularly in the state of Maharashtra. The dough for thalipeeth is prepared from multi grains and spices. The ingredients include flours such as rice, wheat, bajra, jowar and besan. Thalipeeth is usually served with white butter, thecha or yogurt. This thalipeeth is made of a combination of flours, vegetables and spices which together make it a rich source of protein, iron, fibre and folic acid. INGREDIENTS
For the dough
2 tbsp wheat flour
2 tbsp besan
2 tbsp jowar flour
2 tbsp bajra flour
2 tbsp rice flour
1/4 cup finely chopped onions
1/2 tsp ginger green chilly paste
2 tbsp coriander chopped
½ tsp Turmeric
1/4 tsp Red chilli powder
1/2 tsp jeera
1/4 tsp coriander powder
2 tsp sesame seeds
1 tsp oil
Salt to taste
Other ingredients
Oil to make the thali peeth
METHOD
Mix all the ingredients together and knead a dough along with water.
Rest the dough for 5 minutes.
Divide the dough into 4 parts and roll out flat.
With you finger poke holes on the paratha.
Roast on a pan with some oil, flip and cook on both the sides.
Serve hot with thecha and curd.
