TRICOLOR IDLIS

These are such a delight! Make them for republic day or Independence Day and it will wow your guests! It is super simple to make and you will love them! Beautiful orange and green layers show perfectly like pur tricolour flag. The carrot and spinach gives them the perfect colour and taste!

TRICOLOR IDLIS Recipe|Renu dalal

INGREDIENTS

For the Orange Batter

  • ½ cup idli batter
  • ¼ Cup Carrot puree
  • A pinch of salt
  • ¼ tsp soda bi carbonate

For the Green batter

  • ½ cup idli batter
  • ¼ tsp soda bi carbonate
  • 2 tbsp Spinach Puree
  • A pinch of salt

For the white batter

  • ¾ cup idli batter
  • ¼ tsp soda bi carbonate
  • A pinch of salt

Other ingredients

  • Oil for greasing

To serve

  • chutney and sambhar

METHOD

For the Orange batter

  1. Mix in the carrot puree in ½ Cup Idli Batter.
  2. Add in pinch of salt , soda bi carbonateMix well.

For the White batter

  1. Add pinch of salt, soda bi carbonate in the normal idli batter.

  2. Mix well.

For the green batter

  1. Mix in spinach puree in ½ Cup Idli Batter.

  2. Add in pinch of salt, soda bi carbonate Mix well.

How to proceed

  1. Grease idli mould with oil.
  2. Pour in orange batter with a spoon on top.
  3. Pour in a spoon of white batter in the middle quickly.
  4. Followed by the green batter in the end.
  5. Repeat the same procedure for all idlis.
  6. Steam for 5-7 minutes or until cooked.
  7. Serve hot with chutney and sambhar.
