URAD DAL

INGREDIENTS
- ½ Cup Urad Dal
- 1 ½ Cup Water
- ½ Cup Chopped Onion
- ½ Cup Chopped tomato
- 1 tsp Ginger Green chilli Paste
- 1 tsp Crushed Garlic
- ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tsp Jeera
- ¼ tsp Hing
- 4 – 6 Curry leaves
- 2 tbsp Oil
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp Chopped Coriander
- ½ Cup Water
To be added later
METHOD
- Soak Urad dal in ¾ Cup Water for 10 minutes.
- After soaking, pressure cook urad dal with 1 ½ Cup water for 2-3 whistles.
- Once done, with a masher lightly mash the cooked dal.
- In a pan heat oil, saute hing, jeera, curry leaves, crushed garlic and ginger green chilly paste.
- Mix in onions, tomatoes and saute well until cooked.
- Add in turmeric powder and the cooked dal mixture. Let it boil and thicken up.
- Add in salt, water, coriander and cook for 2 minutes.
- Serve hot with roti or rice.
